Care & Washing

How to Wash Your Modern Cloth Nappy Inserts

Step 1: Remove solids

Dispose of poo into the toilet. This step is optional if your baby has yet to start solids.

Then store the used cloth nappy in a dry pail for up to 24 hours

Step 2: Pre-wash

Pre-wash your nappies on a 30-60 minutes cycle on 40-60 degrees with detergent. This removes the majority of soiling. You nappies can then be placed back into a dry pail for a further 48-72 hours until they need to be main washed.

Step 3: Main-wash cycle

Run a long (2-3 hour) cotton cycle 40-60 degrees with detergent.

Step 4: Hang to dry

Air dry nappies or use a clothes/tumble dryer on low heat

How do I choose between bamboo snake, trifold, and booster inserts?

The bamboo snake insert is our most flexible option - you can fold it in 2, 3, or 4 ways to fit perfectly in any nappy.

Use the bamboo trifold insert for easy, quick changes with great absorption. The booster insert is perfect for adding extra protection during long naps, overnight, or for heavy wetters.

Many parents use different inserts at different times of the day.

How much liquid can Mimi Soft Touch inserts absorb?

Our bamboo snake insert absorbs up to 120ml of liquid, making it great for day or night use.

The bamboo trifold insert also holds 120ml and works well for regular changes. The booster insert absorbs 80ml and is perfect for adding extra protection when you need it.

Bamboo Cotton Snake

I purchased a couple of inserts of different variety which includes bamboo cotton, bamboo terry, absorbent insert amd hemp cotton. The absorbency for all is great so far for my newborn. The only issue is the poo stains which remain on the bamboo cotton even after washing it as per instructions several times. As for the other type the stains wash well.

I have found the soft touch snake inserts to not be as absorbent as my normal Mimi cotton snake insets. I find they wet through to the hemp insert very quickly compared to the normal ones. I also find I do not get as long between changes.
They feel lovely but the absorbency just does not seem as good.

The first nappy I reach for after wash day

Half of my nappy stash is now Mimi and Co and I'm hoping to replace the other 15 over too! I love the absorbency, ease of closure, the cutest designs in any MCN brand and MOST importantly, no leaks! Easy wipes

Easier than you think to convert to cloth wipes from disposable! These do such a much better job of cleaning up number 2’s than the disposables and they really are just so easy to incorporate into your routine.

Best nappies by far!

Mimi’s 2.0’s are the best! By far the best fitting nappy from a skinny newborn to chunky baby and then toddler years. The more slender wing design means they fit so much better than other brands. My only regret was not purchasing them sooner!

Stunning print

I adore the Penny cloth nappy print!! It's become my favourite in our collection. After trying the bamboo terry inserts with this nappy, I don't think I can go back to the 'old' style inserts as nothing compares to the softness, flexibility, and moldability of bamboo terry. I feel like bub gets a much more comfortable fit with the bamboo terry inserts!

They’re incredibly soft on sensitive skin and we’ve noticed far less irritation compared to disposables. The quality is fantastic and they hold up really well after lots of washes.
