Certificate numbers, class and certificate holders

There is no single certificate for a finished Mimi product, and there is not one for any cloth nappy brand, because STANDARD 100 certificates are issued to the company that makes a material, for the materials named on that certificate. Our nappy passes through multiple specialist manufacturers, so what we hold is a stack of certificates, for each part of our product:

Certificates run in twelve month cycles, and some certificates may be in a renewal window right now, so the lookup may not return a clean result - we endeavour to keep our certificates up to date on this blog. 

Are our products certified under Product Class I (baby articles)?

Yes, we use Class I, Annex 6 - the tightened limit-value set that is stricter again than standard Class I.

Does the testing include PFAS/PFCs, formaldehyde, heavy metals, phthalates, BPA and the other restricted substances?

Yes, all of them, and Class I applies the strictest thresholds of the four OEKO-TEX classes.

• PFAS and PFCs: OEKO-TEX now bans intentional use of PFAS across all its standards. Full compliance has been mandatory since 1 January 2026, with limits of 25 ppb per individually regulated substance and a cumulative limit, plus a total fluorine limit that was tightened from 100 ppm to 50 ppm in June 2026.
• Formaldehyde: "not detectable" is the Class I requirement.
• Heavy metals: tested both as extractable metals and as total content. The Class I extractable limits are 0.2 mg/kg lead and 0.1 mg/kg cadmium, plus limits for mercury, arsenic, nickel and others, with separate total content limits on top.
• Phthalates: restricted across the board for baby articles.
• BPA: the limit was tightened from 100 mg/kg to 10 mg/kg on 1 April 2025.
• Plus banned azo dyes, allergenic and carcinogenic dyes, chlorinated phenols, organotin compounds, PAHs, flame retardants, biocides, pesticide residues, all textile-relevant substances on the ECHA SVHC candidate list, a skin-friendly pH range of 4.0 to 7.5, colour fastness testing, and a determination of odours test.

Things you should know

When we say our nappies are OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, we mean this precisely: they are made with OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified materials, Product Class I. Class I is the strictest of the four classes, written specifically for babies and children under three.

That certification is held and renewed annually by the manufacturers of each material, and it is backed by ongoing control testing carried out by the certifying institute on at least 25% of certified products each year, including items purchased anonymously from retail shelves.

Alongside the certification itself, we run our own checks at two levels.

Independent laboratory testing. We periodically commission third party testing on finished products for colourfastness, migration of elements, formaldehyde, absorbency and snap closure strength.

Batch and product quality control. Every batch, and every individual product within it, is inspected before it reaches you. This covers stitching quality, dimensional specifications against our technical specification, and needle control.
